InnerWorkings was founded in late 2002 by a group of us who were tired with the old training formulas that were being thrown at developers. It was really time for something new, practice-based, and embedded in Visual Studio.
We launched our new product in early 2003. It was invigorating to see developers adopting our new methodology and learning through practice.
InnerWorkings received another welcome boost in 2003. We became a Gold-certified Microsoft partner and joined the Visual Studio Industry Partner (VSIP) program. What’s more, we received several prestigious software awards including “New Company of the Year” from the Irish Software Association.
Further encouraging news arrived in early 2004. We completed our Series A funding round to the tune of $8.8M with Benchmark Capital Europe and Mohr Davidow Ventures. Moreover large organizations began deploying our product across their distributed software development teams. By 2007, our catalog included over 450 hours of .NET coding challenges for Visual Basic and C# developers (and it’s still growing).
